If it's a PDF, the document appears side by side with Word, allowing the full benefit of Word's interface. You can add pictures and add your own notes. However, you can't create or edit documents. You can edit or delete text and graphics in the document. There is a simple navigation bar at top-right of your screen that you can hover over to go to various sections of this file, such as the “Notes” section of the file. It's worth noting that the current version of work for Mac does come with a few caveats: You can't create Pages files with Word. PDFs won't render correctly with Word if they're opened in Safari or any other “app” that lets you view and edit documents. The ability to print a document is also not available through work. Although this is an early release, I do find it useful that the ability to send.
